The birth place of many folk dance forms and performing
arts, Thrissur is proud of her rich cultural heritage. The presence of
Kerala Sahitya Academy, Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka
Academy and Kerala Kalamandalam add colour to the cultural life of Thrissur.
A number of Religious centres, venues of world famous festivals and
tourist centres come under the perimeter of Regency Club.
Pooram is an integral part of our heritage. In the month of Medam(Vaisakh)
'Thekkinkadu Maidan' around the Siva Temple , attires herself as a fairy
land and Thrissur forgets to sleep for 36 hours. |

One of the major attraction of the pooram is the '
KUDAMATTOM ' a real confluence of rainbow colours!- A pagentry, led by
caparisoned elephants, accompanied by enchanting and reverberating 'Panchavadya
'' is also, part of this spectacular show!
The grand finale of this great show, is the famous 'Pooram' fireworks. A
master mix of colour, light and sound, where master craftsmen unleash their
pyrotechniques in the sky; for the Pooram enthusiasts below. |

The holy city, where the world famous Sree
Krishna Temple is situated , is about 32 kms from the club.
Pilgrims from the length and breadth of India visit this holy temple,
seeking DARSHAN of Lord Krishna. It is believed that Lord Krishna is very fond
of rearing elephants. In the lordship's stable, at 'PUNNATHOOR KOTTA'
there are more than 62 elephants, all living together! It is a unique
sight, seen nowhere else in this world! |
